Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a passport if I will be traveling from the U.S.? YES! The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. If you do not have a passport, you will be able to attend the conference, you will not however be allowed to return to the States.

What else do I need to know about traveling to Mexico from the U.S.? The US Department of State Consular Information Sheets for Mexico provide up to date information for US citizens traveling abroad. Click here for information about Health Issues.

Do I need to take special precautions regarding Health Insurance? The decision to purchase any Insurance is a personal matter. If you choose to do so, you can find out more information about and insurance and much more at insuremytrip.com.

Can I extend my stay at the same discounted hotel rate? YES! The Hyatt has generously agreed to extend the discounted conference special rate to 3 days prior to and after the conference.

Will I get continuing education credits for attending the Reaching Beyond Our Borders Conference? Yes. Orthotists and Prosthetists will be eligible to receive credits for both the educational sessions and for visiting the vendors. The program has been submitted to the American Board for Certification of Orthotics and Prosthetics for approval of PCE’s. Other professionals attending the meeting may request a certificate of attendance for their respective certifying entities.

Will there be translators for the program? Yes. Simultaneous translation (English/Spanish and Spanish/English) will be provided for the general sessions. The afternoon workshops will not include simultaneous translation.

Do I get a discount on my registration if I’m a member of ISPO? Yes, your ISPO membership gives you a special $100 discounted registration rates. And you’ll save another $50 by registering before November 1, 2006

If I'm not currently a member of ISPO, how can I join? If you are a US citizen, just go to the US ISPO web site: www.usispo.org and click on membership application, complete and return the form with your payment. It will then be processed through the Denmark office.

Can I drink the water in Cancun?
The resorts in Cancun all have high quality water filtration systems. But if you are concerned, no one will be offended if you prefer to drink bottled water.

Will I be able to spend a little time in the sun and on the beach?
The afternoon program is structured so you can decide if you want to attend the workshops or attend the beach attractions.
